The Higher Education Climate Action Partnership (HECAP) addresses climate change through encouraging, catalyzing and facilitating research, education, civic engagement and campus greenhouse gas emissions reductions of its partners. HECAP emerged from a rapidly growing collaborative effort of higher education institutions, departments, networks, organizations and individuals committed to “Education for Sustainability” associated with the US Partnership Committee of the United Nations Decade for Education for Sustainable Development, 2004- 2014. The overall collaboration is co-sponsored by two members of the US Partnership Committee: University Leaders for a Sustainable Future and the National Council for Science and the Environment.
